Smash-and-grab reported at Buckhead jewelry store

A smash-and-grab robbery was reported Wednesday afternoon at a Buckhead store, Atlanta police said.

The incident happened at the Swiss Watch Expo store in the 3100 block of Peachtree Road, according to police.

Two men with hammers allegedly smashed into a display case and grabbed several watches, according to Sgt. Greg Lyon.

No further details were immediately available.

Wednesday’s smash-and-grab occurred less than a half-mile from the site of a robbery Friday, when $940,000 worth of watches were stolen at a Lenox Square store in about 30 seconds, according to police.

It was not known Wednesday if the two crime sprees were related.
