The Georgia Department of Transportation has a long list of weekend construction projects planned ahead of next week’s roadwork hiatus, but rain scheduled for Sunday could have crews pulling up the orange barrels early.
Here’s what road closings are planned, weather permitting:
Two northbound lanes of I-75 from Hudson Bridge Road to Mount Zion Boulevard will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday through 9 p.m. Sunday for concrete slab replacement.
Two southbound lanes of I-285 will be shut down from Campbellton Road to Camp Creek Parkway beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday, also for concrete slab work.
Sign structure work will close two westbound and one eastbound lane of I-285 between Chamblee Dunwoody Road and Buford Highway all weekend.
As part of the reconstruction of the interchange at I-285 and Atlanta Road, contractors will close two southbound lanes of I-285 from 9 p.m. Sunday through 5 a.m. Monday.
Bridge joint replacement will require closing two eastbound lanes of I-20 between Six Flags Parkway and Fulton Industrial Boulevard all weekend.
Similar bridge work will close two westbound lanes of I-20 from Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard to Lawton Street throughout the weekend.
Two northbound lanes of I-75 at G. 138 on the south side will be closed all weekend for concrete replacement.
In northern Cobb County, one northbound lane of I-75 will be closed just north of Chastain Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday.
Looking ahead to the holiday week, GDOT is suspending all lane-closing road construction beginning at 5 a.m. Wednesday and continuing through 10 p.m. on Nov. 30.
