Security is being beefed up at Roswell City Hall in line with a new state requirement.

Effective Monday visitors will be required to pass through security screening as they enter the building. Visitors will be asked to empty their pockets and security officers will inspect purses, briefcases, bags and other gear.

The city has hired the firm Dynamic Security to provide screenings at the public entrances to City Hall, including the grand staircase entrance and the south entrance on the ground level.

The expanded security is in response to Georgia H.B. 60, the Safe Carry Protection Act of 2014, which requires security personnel to screen visitors as they enter government buildings where weapons are banned.
