Road crews will return to I-20 this weekend to make repairs to bridge joints, and the Georgia Department of Transportation is asking motorists to avoid non-essential travel on the interstate.
Here’s what you need to know to avoid the delays that GDOT expects:
Bridge work on I-20, sign work on I-285
Bridge joint repairs will shut down two eastbound lanes of I-20 between Joseph Lowery Boulevard and McDaniel Street, along with three westbound lanes between Langhorn and McDaniel streets, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday.
On the southwest side of I-285, sign structure work will require two northbound lane closures between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Hollowell Parkway all weekend, while one southbound lane of the Perimeter from I-20 to Cascade Road will be shut down for the same reason.
North of there, two northbound lanes of I-285 will be closed all weekend from Bolton Road to South Atlanta Road for concrete rehabilitation.
