You've no doubt heard; fireworks are legal in Georgia this year. To make sure the bang isn't you, the folks at Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta have these tips

1. The safest option is to go to a public fireworks show put on by professionals.

2. Never give fireworks to small children

3. Always carefully follow the directions on the packaging

4. Keep a supply of water close as a precaution

5. Make sure that the person lighting the fireworks is wearing eye protection

6. Light only one firework at a time and never attempt to relight a “dud”

7. Never throw fireworks in the direction of people, animals, vehicles, structures, or anything flammable
