The Cobb County Police Department is investigating a Friday morning crash that killed a 22-year-old Powder Springs man.

About 3:53 a.m. Friday, Nelson Zedkaia was northbound on C.H. James Parkway at Hill Road when he tried to negotiate a right curve. For unknown reasons, he lost control of his 2010 Honda Civic, Sgt. Dana Pierce with the Cobb County Police Department said.

“As the vehicle was rotating clockwise,” Pierce said in an emailed statement, “the driver’s side collided with a concrete utility pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.”

Zedkaia was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he died.

At this time, Pierce said, investigators do not believe that alcohol or speed were factors.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 770-499-3987.
