The Powder Springs Police Department has formed a new program called CAP for Citizens and Police Program.
Each participating neighborhood will have one officer assigned as the liaison between the department and that neighborhood.
As issues arise, neighborhood residents may contact their assigned officer for guidance, advice or response.
Officers would keep their neighborhoods informed on important information like crime trends, safety tips and community-related information.
Assigned officers also would be available to conduct C.A.P. meetings in their assigned neighborhoods.
More than 40 people attended the first CAP meeting this month at the Steeplechase Subdivision to meet their assigned officer, Jason Driver.
Neighborhoods in Powder Springs interested in becoming a part of CAP may visit http://www.cityofpowdersprings.org/649/CAP-Program to learn more about the program or to sign up.
They also may send their email address to Police Chief John Robison at jrobison@cityofpowdersprings.org or call him at 770-257-1386 for more information.
For representatives of Powder Springs neighborhoods who sign up online or call, the police department will work with them to set up an initial meeting.
If neighborhoods are interested, the police department will include them as a part of the program.
