A mother in Texas is believed to have made her children get tattooed by a registered sex offender.

According to the San Antonio Express, Ashley Nikole Weir, 31, was arrested Monday after her 13-year-old son, 10-year-old daughter and 9-year-old daughter were found unsupervised with tattoos on their ankles.

The father of the children received a phone call from his son that the children "had a surprise for him and that he might not like it."

When police arrived to check on the children at the father's request, Weir was passed out and when she came to, she "smelled of alcohol, wobbled, swayed and was unsure on her feet while walking."

The son told officers that earlier in the day Weir wanted them to get tattoos and she told them "not to cry or whine about it when it hurts," according to an arrest affidavit.

The children told police that Weir’s boyfriend’s brother, a registered sex offender, tattooed them.

Weir may face up to three years in prison if convicted on three counts of tattoos prohibited for certain persons.
