Police are investigating after a man was shot multiple times during a shootout in downtown Atlanta on Saturday afternoon.
The man, identified as 24-year-old Khiry Clemons, was shot several times, including in the neck, near Peachtree Street and Martin Luther King Drive, Channel 2 Action News reported. He then ran into the arcade area at Underground Atlanta and the shooter fled the scene.
Clemons is being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital and has been arrested, Channel 2 said. Police said they found him with a stolen gun and drugs, and he will be taken to jail when he is released from the hospital.
“It’s getting to the point where it’s not even safe to come downtown and bring out kids,” witness Cheryl Stegall, who said she heard the shots, told Channel 2.
Police said they believe the shooter and Clemons may have had some kind of dispute.
