The pandemic changed our lives in many ways including how we look.

Melissa Richardson, 34, Clarkston: “I did the ‘big chop’ just prior to the pandemic. I felt that...during the pandemic, it was too risky to visit my normal salon. So, here I am, one year of growth with my natural hair. Been a fun journey!”

Kwa Hill, 51, Atlanta: “I hadn’t washed my (own) hair in more than 10 years. I went to the salon every single week. That was my life. It is funny what you do when you have to do it.”

Gigi Gagat, 57, Marietta: “Growing out the bangs for the first time in my life!”

Callaway Gisler, 15, Oconee County: "Since pre-school he has had the same hairdresser,” said mom, Laura Gisler. “We had just gotten his hair cut before lockdown. He hasn’t embraced the rubber band yet.”

Kevin Conaway, 57, Lawrenceville: “I have not had long hair since …'96!”

Rebecca Hadj Taieb, 57, Druid Hills: “I feel like I have more opportunity to do something different and change my style and change my look. I Kind of organically fell into it.”

Dan Parker, 41, DeKalb County: “I don’t like to keep my hair very long. I got a pair of $30 Wahl clippers with a lot of different guard sizes. I don’t have to go pay for a cut and I don’t have to worry about gel.”

Russ Belin, 46, Peachtree Corners: “I always wanted to grow a long beard. I don’t think I looked unpresentable but the grays were starting to bother me and I had to take it down.”
