Public transportation for older and disabled Americans is an expensive proposition. The author of a new Washington study says transit agencies such as MARTA need to expand their paratransit service to senior citizens, along with the disabled, to encourage elderly drivers with diminished skills to leave their cars. In our second column, a MARTA executive writes about the region’s challenge with elderly transit.
