A 20-year veteran of the AJC, Tom Sabulis has covered news, politics and the arts during a career that has taken him to newspapers across the country. Since 2008, he has coordinated many of the newspaper’s pro/con debates and first-person guest columns.

The Georgia General Assembly recently passed a bill that allows MARTA a bit more flexibility in planning its future. Today, the transit agency's leader writes about the ways components of that bill can help MARTA build on its mission, perhaps even to Clayton County. In our second column, transportation and business leaders talk about the importance of finding an alternative to dwindling motor-fuel tax revenues  to keep state and national highways and bridges safe for drivers.
