Four years ago, Georgia was one of the first states to sign onto the Common Core State Standards, an effort led by the state’s governor at the time, Sonny Perdue. Now, Georgia is poised to pass one of the strongest anti-Core, anti-national standards bills in the nation. Today I discuss Senate Bill 167, its ramifications and unintended consequences. In a guest column, opponents of Common Core applaud efforts to get rid of the standards in Georgia. And readers share their views about standards and politics and whether the two mix.
