Alexander Goldinsky, 57, is charged with one count of insurance fraud in the third degree and one count of theft by deception in the third degree, according to a statement from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.

Goldinsky filed a false insurance claim sometime between September and November 2018 for the ambulance service and treatment he received after faking a fall at a cafeteria at a business in Woodbridge Township, the statement said.

Surveillance video from the incident shows a man alleged to be Goldinsky throwing ice on the floor and then laying down, apparently waiting to be discovered.

Goldinsky was arrested Jan. 15. He denied faking the fall to reporters from WCBS-TV, who spoke to him Thursday at his home in Randolph, New Jersey.

“Yes, I was brought to the police department,” he said.

When pressed about the video showing him throw ice on the floor, he replied, "I didn't do it, it was a mistake," the news station reported.

Goldinsky’s arrest is part of Attorney General Gurbir Grewal’s statewide crackdown on insurance fraud, the statement said.

“Fraudulent claims cost everyone and we will aggressively prosecute those who illegally manipulate the system,” Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said.
