A Utah woman has pleaded guilty to encouraging her husband to shoot a neighbor because the victim was "telepathically threatening them."
The neighbor was doing yard work when he was hit twice and nearly killed in the October 2011 incident.
According to KSL-TV, the 41-year-old victim and the couple had a contentious history. Police say Meloney and Michael Selleneit of Centerville, Utah, had been confronting the man for years over supposed telepathic hostility.
Meloney Selleneit allegedly told her husband that the victim had "telepathically" raped her. Police said she then encouraged her husband to "go for it" and shoot the man.
She faced at least two felonies related to the incident before pleading guilty, but mentally ill.
Her husband, Michael, pleaded guilty in January to attempted murder. He is serving a 30-year sentence for the crime and will be serving at least part of his sentence at a state mental hospital.
Police say Michael, 53, was not allowed to own a firearm because of a previous conviction on charges of sexual contact with a minor.
He also pleaded not guilty due to mental illness in that case and was given a suspended sentence.
