Atlanta homicide investigators were trying to determine Thursday who shot an East Point man multiple times before leaving him to die.
Drexel L. Berry, 24, died after being shot multiple times Wednesday afternoon in southwest Atlanta, according to police and the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Berry was shot at least three times on Cooper Street and tried to get help from someone on another street around 2:30, according to Sgt. Greg Lyon with Atlanta police.
“He was struck multiple times and ran several blocks to Pryor Street, where he collapsed,” Lyon told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He saw someone on the porch and ran to them for aid.”
Berry was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died, Lyon said.
A portion of Pryor Street, near the intersection with Richardson Street, was temporarily closed during the investigation.
Investigators had not identified a suspect or a motive in the killing, police said Thursday.
