Update: The Zaxby's on Lower Roswell Road passed its re-inspection by a health official after barely failing its previous check up.

An inspector cleared the eatery with a score of 96/A on April 11.

The sole issue found was “an accumulation of mold on inside” of the ice bin in a food prep area, according to the report. This was a first-time offense.

Original (published April 6): A Marietta Zaxby's failed its recent health check by two points.

The 2080 Lower Roswell Road location scored a 68/U during its March 30 inspection.

Someone who identified themselves as a manager when answering the store phone Thursday assured The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the eatery would be ready for re-inspection. They declined to comment further and hung up when asked for their name.

Most of the issues in the report centered on improper and unsanitary use of gloves.

The inspector reported seeing an employee wearing gloves take out trash, come back in, throw away the gloves and put new gloves on instead of washing their hands in between as required.

According to the report, an employee with gloves on went to the back office to make food labels and came back into the kitchen with gloves on.

The restaurant was also docked points for not having paper towels at the sink by its raw chicken prep station.

Follow-up inspections are usually done within 10 days of the original evaluation.
