A 27-year-old man fell to his death while working at a Kroger distribution center in Clayton County.

About 5:56 p.m. Tuesday, the Forest Park Police & Fire Departments went to the 2000 Anvil Block Road, where Leonardo DeJesus had been working in an area of the center still under construction, police Major Chris A. Matson said Wednesday.

DeJesus was “performing work utilizing [a] platform lift” when he fell to his death, Matson said.

In a statement, Kroger spokesman Glynn Jenkins said DeJesus was employed with Reich, a subcontractor who was installing automation racking in the distribution center.

“Our condolences are with the victim’s family,” he said. ” … We are cooperating with the regulatory agencies in their investigations.”

Forest Park police and Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials are looking into the incident.
