Rail work will slow riders on MARTA’s Blue and Green train lines beginning next week.

The fourth phase of MARTA’s $133 million rail renovation project starts Monday, officials said in a news release. Work will be done from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m., the transit system’s non-peak travel hours, each day through March 16.

Inman Park/Reynoldstown and Edgewood/Candler Park MARTA station riders will have “minimal service delays” as crews work, MARTA officials said. Both affected rail lines run east and west on MARTA.

“We ask that our valued customers bear with us during this temporary inconvenience,” MARTA CEO Jeffrey Parker said in a statement. “These ongoing upgrades are designed to improve MARTA’s rail lines and are federally required for us to operate a safe and secure system.”

Engineering crews have already begun work, but delays won’t increase until Monday, MARTA officials said. At that time, Green Line trains will not serve Inman Park/Reynoldstown or Edgewood Candler Park stations.

Riders at both stations are urged to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early in anticipation of delays. Track work will be suspended March 14 to accommodate the Atlanta United game.

Phase four of the renovation project is expected to last seven years.
