A $150,000 Giant Jumbo Bucks lottery ticket was sold at Shell Food Mart in Decatur, Ga. The winning ticket was paid July 8, 2016 after being bought at the retailer.

The lucky ticket was one of at least 95 winning Giant Jumbo Bucks tickets claimed in the metro Atlanta area from July to October, according to data from the Georgia Lottery Corporation. The lottery provided data on prizes exceeding $600.

At least $107.8 million in prize money was claimed during that time from tickets sold at area retailers.

All Georgia Lottery profits go to specific educational programs, including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Programand Georgia's Pre-K program. Check out winning numbers at http://www.ajc.com/lottery/.

Healthcare at College Park, a nursing home in Fulton County, GA, stands shuttered with its door chained on July 26, 2025, having closed in recent months.  Researchers at Brown University developed a list of U.S. nursing homes they predicted were at risk of closing based on 2023 data, and would be at elevated risk of closing due to the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act's cuts to Medicaid.
