Willy’s rechecked after failed health inspection in DeKalb

Georgia has rules it requires every food service operation to follow. These are just a few of the many health and safety regulations. Food service operations without a permit are illegal. Employees must know how to prevent foodborne illness and the symptoms of those illnesses. Food must be kept at the correct temperatures to prevent pathogens from growing. Employees must meet standards of cleanliness while working around food. If health laws are not met, the food service's permit may be suspended.

Update: The restaurant has scored a 94. Read the new report: here.

Original: A DeKalb County Willy's Mexicana Grill location failed its recent health inspection.

The location at 2074 North Decatur Road received a 67, according to the report. The inspector noted a variety of issues, including dirty utensils stored as clean and raw egg shells stored directly above ready-to-eat food.

“We take these scores very seriously,” WIlly’s said in a statement Wednesday. “We are working together with the health department on an action plan to correct all of the deficiencies. All of our food is being monitored closely to ensure the highest standards of safety are met. We are reviewing procedures with our team to ensure that we maintain our focus on keeping our restaurants safe and clean for all of our guests.”
