Western Gwinnett Bikeway extension gets board approval
Construction on a new section of the Western Gwinnett Bikeway will begin soon under a $1.2 million contract approved by the Board of Commissioners Tuesday.
Astra Group Inc. will build the new section beginning where the existing trail ends at Summer Chase Drive in Duluth and continuing north to Pleasant Hill Road. The project will be paid for by the City of Duluth and the state Department of Transportation.
Eventually, the 10-foot-wide trail will connect the cities off Norcross, Berkeley Lake and Duluth in Gwinnett County and Johns Creek in Fulton County.
