UPDATE (May 4): All lanes on Lavista Road near Henderson Road in Tucker have reopened.

(May 3): Customers may notice slightly discolored water "due to current work being completed," a DeKalb County press release warned Thursday. Officials encouraged residents to run the faucet until the water runs clear.

Both of Lavista Road’s westbound lanes at Henderson Road were shut down Thursday morning, with only one lane of traffic getting by. City officials estimated the road would reopen in time for the Thursday afternoon rush hour, but county officials later said road restoration should be completed by Friday afternoon.

However, full restoration of the area isn't expected until Monday afternoon. After Lavista Road reopens, crews will begin "rebuilding the sidewalk and curb that were washed away," according to an update from the city.

Water and full pressure were reportedly restored to all impacted homes and businesses by Wednesday night. The water is safe for drinking, bathing and any other uses, the update said.

ORIGINAL STORY (published May 2): DeKalb County crews are working to repair a 16-inch water main break along Lavista Road near Henderson Road in Tucker.

The water has been turned off, according to Channel 2 Action News. There were no reported water service outages around 1 p.m., a spokesman said. Two westbound lanes of Lavista have been reported as closed.

The water main break was reported at 6:19 a.m.; crews were still searching for the site of the break around noon. The break caused limited water outages and low water pressure for customers, according to a press release.

Two nearby homes have been greatly impacted by the hours of rushing water, Channel 2 reported.
