Crews worked Friday to finish up repair work on a water main break in northwest Atlanta, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The 20-inch pipe began leaking Wednesday on Delmar Lane near Delmoor Court, in the Adamsville community.
After crews finished repairs Thursday afternoon, they found additional damage, Channel 2 said. Water service was restored around 4 p.m. Friday.
Neighbors told the AJC on Thursday that the main broke before 7 p.m. Wednesday, flooding much of the neighborhood.
Vanitecia House said the water was up to the top of the tires on vehicles in the area.
“The road burst open,” House said. “The water was that high and it was just running down the road, gushing up.”
The break left about 40 homes without water for two days.
Officials with the city's Department of Watershed Management have not said what caused the leak.
