Atlanta’s unseasonably warm late January afternoons will carry over into early February, with chilly overnight temperatures also warming up.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton is forecasting a chance of showers beginning Wednesday afternoon and continuing into Thursday morning.

Highs will be in the mid-60s this week, about 10 degrees warmer than normal.

Temperatures before daybreak Tuesday ranged from 28 degrees in Peachtree City and 32 in Alpharetta to 40 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, but overnight lows should only drop to the mid-40s to around 50 degrees the rest of the week, Minton said.

The midweek rain should clear out by Thursday afternoon, leaving sunny skies on Friday before a 60 percent chance of rain returns on Saturday.
