UPDATE: The urn found floating in Lake Lanier earlier this week has been returned to its owners, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokesman Epi Rodriguez said Friday.

No details about how the urn was lost, or subsequently identified, were released.

"The family was very clear in their wishes in respecting their privacy," Rodriguez said in an email.
