The University of Georgia plans to add 25 tenure-track faculty positions this year as part of a hiring initiative announced more than two years ago.

UGA President Michael Adams has said providing students with more professors is a "top priority." So far the college has added 60 tenure-track faculty positions and converted some part-time instructor posts into full-time lecture slots.

The college can afford the new positions by using tuition, funds the state provides for enrollment growth and money from a special institutional fee students pay.
