Police were involved in a shootout late Wednesday night in northwest Atlanta that ended with two believed gang members being arrested.

Dushawn Demitries Heath, 20, and 28-year-old Dianti Sims were arrested and charged with aggravated assault against police using a gun, possession of firearms during the commission of a felony, discharging firearms on a street, pointing a firearm at another and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Authorities believe the men are affiliated with the gang 30 Deep.

The men began shooting at officers around 11:20 p.m. near a gas station at 74 Northside Drive, police said.

Police spokesman Officer Otis Redmond could not identify a motive late Thursday night.

Both men were taken to the Fulton County Jail, and an investigation is ongoing.
