Trial begins for man accused of stalking, killing Cobb cashier

Jan 8, 2013

The murder trial began Tuesday for a man accused of stalking, then killing a Cobb County grocery store cashier in 2009, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Armando Soto is charged with felony murder and aggravated assault for the fatal shooting of Angelica Robledo De La Rosa, 32, outside the Smyrna store where she worked.

Prosecutors said Soto tried to pursue a relationship with De La Rosa and stalked her for months, but she refused his advances. The incidents were not reported to police, authorities said.

On Dec. 29, 2009, Soto confronted De La Rosa and her companion outside the Brito Supermarket on South Cobb Drive, then shot her multiple times before fleeing, police said. De La Rosa died that night at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

Soto was arrested the next day in Gautier, Miss.
