A stretch of a road in north Fulton County will be closed for a few days near the beginning of August for maintenance.
Weather permitting, Lake Forrest Drive between Stewart Drive and Burdette Road will close as crews conduct vegetation management within the right-of-way on Lake Forrest Drive. The work includes tree removal along the steep slopes, and Sandy Springs officials say the road will close as a “safety precaution for the traveling public.”
Work on the road will begin on July 31 and is estimated to end on Aug. 4. Crews will be working from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. those days, so the road will be closed during that time.
Drivers should expect delays and use caution when driving in this area. Sandy Springs says that message boards will be placed nearby with information about detours.
According to city officials, tree roots within the slope on Lake Forrest Drive can interfere with the slope’s stability. The road was closed in 2013 and again in March of this year due to falling debris and concerns over the stability of the slopes.
