A 17-year-old wanted on murder charges out of Cherokee County eluded arrest for months, but police in New York caught him Wednesday.

Akilee Zakee Wilson is charged in connection with the June 25 shooting deaths of William Kendrick Randall, 23, of Canton, and Tony Samples, 26, of Ball Ground, police said.

Canton police previously arrested 29-year-old Jeremy Ulysses Zellous of Marietta in connection with the late-night shooting. Zellous is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, making false statements and tampering with evidence.

A task force located Wilson in a Staten Island housing development and contacted Canton police detectives, who will be working with the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office and New York authorities to extradite Wilson back to Georgia, Canton police said in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing and the Canton Police Department continues to ask anyone who knows anything about the double homicide to call 911 or contact the agency main number at 770-720-4883.
