Atlanta SWAT officers converged on an apartment on Memorial Drive in search of five shooting suspects but found only drugs and a .45-caliber handgun inside, police said.
Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. Curtis Davenport said they are still looking for five men who got into an argument with two other men, brothers to each other, around 11:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Memorial Drive. Shots were fired and one of the brothers, whose name was not available, was shot twice in the lower abdomen; he is in stable but critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Witnesses to the shooting told police the suspect may be inside an apartment in a building next to the place where the seven men had argued, Davenport said.
SWAT officers were called and police went into the apartment around 3:30 p.m, but no one was inside.
This was the third shooting in Atlanta in less than 18 hours. One of those shootings, at Underground Atlanta Friday night, was fatal.
