A man and teenager out on bond for previous felony charges are back in jail.

Anthony Baggett, 17, and Shawn Darin Smith, 28, were arrested together in DeKalb County on Wednesday and charged in two separate armed robbery cases.

The suspects, both of Decatur, were taken into custody by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, DeKalb police and the U.S. Marshals Service. They were found at an apartment complex on Glenwood Road, where authorities also found several weapons, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

They were wanted in connection with armed robberies, but DeKalb court documents show both men had been previously arrested on other felony charges and released on bond.

In Baggett’s case, he was arrested last July and charged with rape, battery, criminal damage to property and making terroristic threats.

He was initially denied bond, but was granted bond in October after 90 days passed without an indictment on his case, records show. His bond amount was not indicated.

State law requires courts grant bond if a suspect hasn’t been indicted within 90 days.

On May 30, 2019, he allegedly used a pistol to steal $200 from a man on Glenwood Road, the sheriff’s office said.

Smith was charged with cruelty to children in 2017 after his 4-year-old son was shot and he allegedly did not seek medical help, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Then, last June, he was arrested and charged with a dozen offenses, including fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, making an illegal U-turn, possession of a firearm while committing a crime and reckless driving. He bonded out on those charges, according to jail records.

He was arrested Tuesday in connection with an alleged armed robbery in September 2018, according to jail records. He also faces charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The sheriff’s office did not provide any other details about that incident.
