A “Support Smyrna” initiative has been established by Smyrna city officials to help the city’s residents in need because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Assistance also is being offered by the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation and other initiatives and organizations.

Ways to help include or to request help:

  • Support Smyrna Grocery Assistance Fund. Citizens can donate to a fund that buys gift cards to local grocery stores and distributes the gift cards to Smyrna residents in need - based on an application process. To date, the Support Smyrna initiative has raised greater than $100,000 with more than 1,000 individual donors. To receive/submit an application, email SupportSmyrna@smyrnaga.gov.
  • Pay a Neighbor's Water/Sanitation Bill. To contribute to a neighbor's water/sanitation bill or if you need assistance, contact loneal@smyrnaga.gov.
  • Purchase a Support Smyrna/Smyrna Strong T-shirt. Shirts are $25, and all proceeds will help Smyrna neighbors in need. Shirts are produced in Smyrna through Smyrna Swag by Karen and Shawn Garcia. Once ordered, shirts will be delivered. Order: Smyrna-swag.weeblysite.com

There are “many more programs and initiatives throughout the city that are working to help make the best of a difficult situation,” according to City Administrator Tammi Saddler Jones.
