Stockbridge City Manager Michael Harris left his position effective May 1.

In the meantime, Stockbridge Mayor Judy Neal will fill the void until either a new city manager is in place or an interim city manager is identified. The city charter calls for the mayor to lead the search, with recommendations to the Council every 14 days until the position is filled.

To ensure that the process identifies the best candidate for the position, the Council and mayor are employing a national search firm. It is estimated that the position might be filled within two to three months. In the meantime, they are also seeking an interim candidate, possibly a retired city manager, to assist until the hiring action is complete.

“I believe that with a commitment to discipline and a plan of action, we will work through this transition period successfully because of our strong and committed city staff,” said Neal. “They know what to do, and have expressed a commitment to excel in their jobs while the job search is moving forward.”
