The Cherokee County Marshal’s Office has been re-certified by the Georgia Law Enforcement Certification program, continuing as one of only two marshal’s offices in the state to be so recognized by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.

This is the fourth time the Cherokee Marshal's Office has been re-certified since 2008, the agency said on its Facebook page. In addition to being state certified, the office is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

The marshal’s office is responsible for enforcing state laws and county ordinances and for animal control, emergency management and homeland security.
