The search for a man who went missing Saturday near Cocktail Cove and Lake Lanier waters was suspended overnight Tuesday, officials said.
Jerry Kornmeier, 57, of Snellville, was last seen boating Saturday. Authorities found his boat adrift in open water Saturday night, Mark McKinnon, a spokesman with the Department of Natural Resources, said.
Rangers, along with Hall County deputies, continued searching without success Monday.
On Tuesday, a sonar scan identified a “possible target,” in the water, but a remote operated vehicle equipped with underwater video capabilities determined the object was not Kornmeier, McKinnon said.
The search was suspended at 7 p.m. Tuesday and is expected to resume at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
This is the second time in less than a week that a man went missing in the area. Authorities confirmed a body recovered Thursday from Lake Lanier is a missing firefighter, Hall County authorities said.
In early April, a group of fishermen found a decomposed body that turned out to be, Estelle Kouassi, a missing teen from Winder, who had previously gone missing.
