Sick middle school students released from hospital after eating candy

Henry County Schools officials are investigating what caused several students to become ill Friday.

Eight students at Austin Road Middle School in Stockbridge were released from local hospitals after eating candy, Channel 2 Action News reported. The of candy was brought to school by another student, Channel 2 reported.

Students described feeling sick.

“We’re gonna keep working around the clock to make sure we get to the bottom of this,” Henry County Schools spokesman J.D. Hardin told the news station.

Investigators have samples of the candy that will be tested.

No other details were released.
