The search continued Wednesday for the gunman who fatally shot a 47-year-old man outside of a DeKalb County apartment complex.
Barket Roy died after being shot multiple times around 9:30 a.m. Monday, DeKalb police spokesman Officer Jason Gagnon said. Investigators believe robbery may have been the motive.
The suspect is described as a black male, between 5-feet-8 and 5-feet-10 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a yellow baseball cap, a white T-shirt and green shorts.
Salima Roy told police she stepped outside of her apartment in the Paces Park complex after hearing several gunshots and saw her husband, who was unconscious and bleeding from the chest, coming from the parking lot, Gagnon said.
Barket Roy, a business owner, had cash in a backpack he was carrying, but the suspect took the cash after shooting the man, Gagnon said.
Two witnesses told police they saw Roy fighting with an unidentified man but took cover when they heard gunshots, police said. The alleged gunman then jumped over a fence and ran toward a Walgreen's on North Decatur Road, witnesses told police.
