Two people were injured Tuesday morning when a school bus was rear-ended in northeast Atlanta.
The wreck happened around 8 a.m. in the 4000 block of Roswell Road.
The driver of a Mercedes C230 was pulling out of the Post Chastain apartment complex when she rear-ended the Atlanta Public Schools bus, causing considerable damage to the car but little apparent damage to the bus.
The Mercedes driver and the bus driver were transported to local hospitals to be checked out. No students were injured.
The bus was transporting about 14 students to North Atlanta High School when the wreck happened. Those students were transferred to another bus.
Atlanta police Officer P. Cunningham said the Mercedes driver would likely be cited for following too closely.
Willy Spizman said his daughter, Ali Spizman, 24, was leaving for work when she hit the bus.
“We’re fortunate that there were no serious injuries,” Spizman told the AJC.
His daughter was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital to be checked out.
“She looks okay, but just want make sure that she’s okay,” he said.
He said his daughter was “just concerned about, were the kids okay, was everybody okay?”
