Morgan Falls Road in Sandy Springs is getting a makeover, and construction on phase one starts this week.

A new sidewalk system will be installed on a half-mile stretch of the road leading to the popular Morgan Falls Overlook Park, from near the Laurels at Overlook Park Apartments to the park itself. The $1.75 million project also will include installation of a storm draining system, retaining walls and curbing.

Once the roughly seven-month project finishes up, paving, landscaping and signage work will commence in the spring of 2016. City officials said lane closures will be in place during the projects, and that motorists should exercise caution.
