The nearly three inches of rain that fell in Athens on Thursday night caused roofs at a bowling center and an auto repair shop to collapse, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.

The Showtime Bowling Center was open for business when the roof partially caved around 10 p.m. No injuries were reported, but it caused such damage to the facility and its entertainment options that it may be closed for at least six months, the owner said.

The owner of Aamco Transmission & Total Car Care shop estimates it could take 30 to 45 days to repair his building after a roof collapsed on three of its bays. Two of the bays remained open for business.

The heavy rainstorm also flooded a group of townhomes, which forced the evacuation of 20 people, according to the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department.
