A Conyers kindergarten teacher allegedly shot by her estranged husband outside a Rockdale County daycare facility is out of the hospital, and her wounded 10-year-old daughter is improving, Channel 2 Action News reports.

Kimaya Motley Roberson and her daughter Corrine Williams were wounded Sept. 20 outside the Little Mountain Christian Academy on Ga. 155.

Margaret Thompkins, Roberson’s mother and Corrine’s grandmother, on Wednesday told Channel 2 that while Corinne’s mother has been released from the hospital, the girl remains hospitalized at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

Doctors have removed Corinne’s breathing tubes, and she is responsive, Thompkins said.

Roberson was dropping her daughter off to catch a school bus before heading to her job teaching kindergarten at C.J. Hicks Elementary School. The mother reportedly sustained gunshot wounds in the face and neck, and her daughter was shot in the head.

Roberson had just filed for divorce from Terrence Sherod Roberson, 36. The man surrendered to Newton County Sheriff's deputies a few hours after the shootings.

Terrence Roberson was charged with two counts of aggravated assault. He waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Rockdale County court.
