A couple of upcoming sessions are set on the updated design for a major Forsyth-Cherokee County road project.

Georgia Department of Transportation officials are working on a project to widen a 24-mile stretch of Ga. 20 between I-575 in Canton and the west side of Cumming. DOT officials say they’ll present a refined concept for the project based on input they got during a series of open house sessions in December of 2016. Transportation officials say the road needs upgrading because its exceeded capacity, traffic flow and safety need to be improved.

An informal open house is set from 5 to 7 p.m. May 16 at Calvary Baptist Church, 137 Hightower Road, Ball Ground. Those interested in the project will be able to view plans, ask questions and record formal comments.
