UPDATE at 3:21 p.m. July 23: Farmer's Basket scored a 91, or A, on its follow-up inspection held July 19.

ORIGINAL STORY

A Town Center at Cobb mall restaurant will have to change its procedures after failing its latest food service inspection.

Farmer’s Basket, which is located on the upper level at the mall’s food court, scored at 59, or U, on the July 12 inspection conducted by the Cobb and Douglas Public Health Department. Anything below a 70 is considered a failing score.

Farmer's Basket offers buffet-style meals with meat and vegetable combinations, according to the Kennesaw mall's website. According to the inspector's report, an employee wearing gloves was observed grooming himself before handling food without washing his hands. The restaurant was also cited for an employee wearing a watch while preparing food, the report states.

The inspector also saw raw poultry that had been cooked to a temperature below 165 degrees Fahrenheit and macaroni and cheese, rice and candied yams stored inside a warming cabinet in the kitchen at a temperature below 135 degrees, the report shows.

Three small roaches were also seen in the kitchen area, and an employee placed cooked chicken in a container that was previously used to store raw chicken, according to the report. The inspector scheduled a follow-up inspection, but did not provide a date on the form.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reached out to Simon Property Group, the owner of Town Center at Cobb, for a comment about Farmer's Basket's score.
