A tractor trailer struck a disabled car on I-285 early Saturday, killing a Riverdale man, according to Sandy Springs Police.

The driver was 20-year-old Charles Edward Stephens Jr., police said Saturday.

Stephens' car had broken down in the right eastbound lane at the DeKalb County line just before 5 a.m., police said, citing preliminary findings and witnesses.

The tractor trailer rear-ended the car minutes later, police said.

Witnesses told police the car's tail lights were not working when the accident happened.

No charges have been filed against the truck driver, police said. An investigation is continuing.
