While guests were getting soaked at a Marietta water park, two alleged thieves were leaving them high and dry, according to police.

For three straight weekends beginning May 19, the duo visited Six Flags White Water and took at least 10 park patrons' unattended valuables, including credit cards, Officer Dave Baldwin with Marietta police said Tuesday.

But when stolen credit cards were used at the Wal-Mart less than a mile down Cobb Parkway, the store led investigators to the suspects, Baldwin said.

Amanda Young, 27, and Xavier Ransom, 18, both of Marietta, were arrested and charged with numerous felony charges, and more are possible, police said.

Young has been charged with 12 counts of theft by taking and credit card transaction fraud and two misdemeanor counts of theft by taking, and Ransom faces three counts of theft by taking and two misdemeanor counts of theft by taking.

Young was arrested Friday evening and booked into the Cobb County jail, where she was being held Tuesday night without bond, according to booking records. Ransom was also arrested Friday, and was released Saturday morning after posting $10,000 bond, booking records showed.

About $2,700 worth of stolen property has been returned to the victims, Baldwin said. Approximately $2,500 worth of purchases were made on the stolen credit cards, of which $400 was recovered.

Amusement park patrons are advised to lock all valuables and not leave items unattended, police said.
