Less than an inch of rain caused hourlong delays at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday.

And with more rain expected through the rest of the week, it is safe to say more delays are also in the forecast.

According to the National Weather Service, as Tropical Depression Claudette moves through Alabama, Atlantans can expect the remainder of the workweek to be a wet one.

“Moisture from Claudette will sit on us through Saturday,” said NWS meteorologist Laura Griffith.

Between 4 and 5 p.m. today, 0.03 inches of rain landed in the Atlanta area, according to NWS meteorologists.

There was more in the metro area with 0.71 inches falling at Charlie Brown airport near Six Flags and 0.49 inches in Marietta.

During that time, officials at Hartsfield Jackson placed a ground stop, ground delay for all flights coming into Atlanta, said Kathleen Bergen, FAA spokeswoman.

There is a 30 percent chance of rain forecast for the rest of the evening, with a 50 percent chance of rain forecast for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

However, according to Griffith, Atlanta will not see any severe storms.

“Saturday will be much cooler than in the past few weeks,” said Griffith. “Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 80s, and Sunday and Monday there will be partly cloudy skies.
