Henry County Animal Care and Control, in conjunction with the Henry County Board of Health, has issued a 45-day rabies alert for the area of Chip Place and Vincent Avenue in Stockbridge.
The department received a call Jan. 28 that two dogs killed a raccoon. The remains of the raccoon were taken to the Georgia Public Health Laboratory for rabies testing and the results came back positive for the rabies virus. Residents living within this area should make sure that all of their companion animals have current rabies vaccinations and monitor the behavior of their own pets as well as surrounding wildlife.
