Rabid raccoons found in Snellville

Gwinnett County has issued a rabies alert after two raccoons found in Snellville tested positive for the disease.

The raccoons were found Oct. 6 on Scenic Drive. Two other raccoons – one found on Arabian Way in Snellville and the other on Huntshire Lane in Lilburn – also tested positive for the disease recently.

The county urges anyone bitten or scratched by a stray animal to contact the Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement Bite Office at 770-339-3200, Ext. 5576.
